Little Rice Lake is part of the Wolf River flowage located in Forest County Wisconsin, approximately 6 miles west of Crandon. The lake is 1,219 acres in size with a maximum depth of 10 feet. Historical fish population has included northern pike, largemouth bass, black crappie, yellow perch, rock bass, bluegill, bullhead and white sucker. The dam was built in 1935 by the Town of Crandon. In 1952 the Wisconsin Conservation Department purchased the land and installed two boat landings, an access road, a picnic area, and designated a wildlife area. Little Rice Lake is a large watershed that supports an array of plant life and provides habitat that many species of wildlife, waterfowl, birds and amphibians. Many residents and visitors utilize the lake to enjoy fishing, waterfowl hunting, canoeing, kayaking, recreational boating and ice fishing.  Little Rice Lake has a wide variety of wetland wildlife inhabit the property and boasts a large bed of wild rice and floating bog and tamarack islands.  For information on harvesting wild rice click on the DNR guideline.

Little Rice Lake Association (LRLA) was established in 2017 when a group of concerned land owners on Little Rice Lake and residents of Crandon decided to take action to preserve this unique jewel. LRLA is a 501(c)(e) organization with the Internal Revenue and the Commonwealth of Wisconsin. Our mission is to preserve and protect Little Rice Lake and its surroundings as a public recreational facility for today and for future generations by enhancing the water quality, fishery and aesthetic values of the area. We seek to accomplish our mission through the hard work of volunteers, membership fees and donations. LRLA gratefully accepts financial donations of any amount to help defray the cost of protecting and improving Little Rice Lake.
